Boot camps are part of the U.S. penal system. The basic philosophy is shock incarceration.
"The program emphasizes the development of personal responsibility, work ethic, self-esteem and self-discipline."
Some first time offenders are offered a choice between 90-day boot camp and regular prison.
"The inmates participate in counseling and skills training for more than 2 hours each evening."
"Training programs include life skills & stress management."
New inmates are dressed in white and referred to as 'ghosts.'
"Probationers are eligible if physically and mentally able to participate."
Prisoners can choose to leave boot camp and serve their sentence in prison.
